Special Lecture: Education Hub in Asia and Potential of Japan


世界的に教育交流が活性化しているなかで、教育交流の中核ともいえる「教育ハブ (Education Hub)」と呼ばれるような地域や国が多く出現しています。中東地域ではカタールやUAE、東南アジアではシンガポールやマレーシアが、教育ハブとして注目を集めています。本セミナーでは、International Education Hubの著者で、この教育ハブという新しい概念を世界に投げかけたJane Knight博士を招聘して、アジアにおける教育ハブの出現、日本の可能性などについて議論します。
“Education hub” is an emerging topic in international higher education around the world. The United Arab Emirates and Qatar in the Middle East, and Singapore and Malaysia in Southeast Asia are leading countries in developing education hubs. Countries in many regions are aspiring to develop education hubs and Northeast Asian countries are no exception. Therefore, we would like to invite you to a presentation by Dr. Jane Knight, the author of “International Education Hub.” On this occasion, we will discuss possible scenarios of the future of education hubs in Asia and the potential of establishing an hub in Japan.

Dr. Jane Knight (Adjunct Professor, Ontario Institute of Studies in Education, University of Toronto)

ジェーン・ナイト博士は、トロント大学オンタリオ教育研究所特任教授で、高等教育の国際化研究において世界で最も著名な研究者の1人です。
主に、国際化が高等教育に及ぼす影響について、大学、政府、国際、地域レベルなど様々な角度からの研究をされてきました。これまで、世界60カ国以上の大学、政府機関、OECD、ユネスコなどの国連機関との研究活動を行っており、高等教育の国際化の概念の提唱、質保証、大学の国際化戦略、トランスナショナル高等教育、高等教育の地域化、教育ハブをはじめ、多岐にわたる学術論文、著書を発表されています。
現在の研究テーマとして、教育ハブ、知識外交、世界の様々な地域における高等教育の地域化に関する研究を展開されています。

Dr. Jane Knight is a globally renowned leading researcher in the internationalization of higher education, based at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.
She focuses her research and professional interests on the international dimension of higher education at the institutional, national, regional and international levels. Her work in over 60 countries with universities, governments, OECD UNESCO, and other UN Agencies, and foundations helps to bring a comparative, development and international perspective to her research, teaching and policy work. She is the author of numerous articles, chapters, books on internationalization concepts and strategies, quality assurance, institutional management, mobility, cross-border education, trade, regionalization and education hubs.
Currently she is working on education hubs, knowledge diplomacy and a comparative study of the regionalization of higher education in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
